Recipe adapted from Tieghan Gerard, Half Baked Harvest

Celebrate the season with a bubbly apple cider punch and sweet cinnamon-sugar rims.

Thanksgiving Cider Punch

Ingredients

  • 8 cups apple cider
  • 1 cup vodka
  • 1/2 cup apple butter
  • 4 dashes orange bitters
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) champagne
  • 2 bottles ginger beer
  • 2 apples, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons coarse sugar
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Pomegranate or orange juice, for the rim
  • Star anise, for garnish

Instructions

1. Stir the apple cider, vodka, apple butter, and orange bitters together in a large pitcher. Add the cinnamon sticks and, if desired, 1–2 star anise. Refrigerate until ready to serve. 2. Prepare the glass rims before filling: mix the coarse sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon on a small plate. Dip each glass rim into a shallow layer of pomegranate or orange juice, then into the cinnamon sugar. 3. When ready to serve, put ice in a punch bowl and add the chilled cider mixture. Gently stir in the champagne and ginger beer. 4. Fill the prepared glasses with ice, pour in the punch, and serve with apple slices.
