Spiced apple cider and sparkling cranberry-apple juice make a spooky party punch with playful gummy-worm garnishes.

Ingredients
- 4 thick slices peeled fresh ginger
- 6 cups apple cider
- Zest of 1 orange, removed with a vegetable peeler
- Zest of 1 lemon, removed with a vegetable peeler
- 1 to 2 cinnamon sticks
- 3 whole cloves
- 1 red apple, sliced into 8 wedges, for garnish
- Gummy worms, for garnish
- 1 750-ml bottle sparkling cranberry-apple juice
- 1 cup cinnamon whiskey (optional)
Instructions
1. Crush the ginger slices with the flat side of a chef’s knife, then place them in a medium saucepan with the apple cider, orange zest, lemon zest, cinnamon sticks and cloves.
2. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat and cook for 10 minutes. Pour through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher. Cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until cold, about 1 hour.
3. Use a chopstick or skewer to make a hole in each apple wedge, then tuck a gummy worm into each hole.
4. Stir the sparkling cranberry-apple juice and optional cinnamon whiskey into the chilled punch. Pour over ice and garnish each serving with an apple wedge.
